New Series for 2012 Piccolo Spoleto

Piccolo Spoleto 2012: The Sun Always Rises with Artist on Fire

I am thrilled to have just received the word that I’ve been accepted into the Piccolo Spoleto 2012 show, The Sun Always Rises with Artist on Fire.   My micro-theme for this series’ will be Constance.

This series of mixed media works speaks to constants that remain throughout nature’s rhythmic cycles. Light and shadow serve not only as elements but subjects of works which render night and day in harmony.  Without beginning or end, the ring is a symbol of unbroken constancy throughout changing times and seasons.  This object of endurance remains though time and season alter its visual cast.  Exploring scientific phenomena of light and shadow, the ephemeral meets that which remains.  As panels progressively grow and wane in value, the steadfastness of the ring’s presence with all that it signifies continues constant throughout the turn of the clock.  This body of work asks the viewer to consider the variables in light and darkness in a particular point within a cycle which play upon the perception of things that otherwise remain the same. These works suggest trust in more than our eyes when discerning constants in an ever-changing world.
